which is our partners in a one-year collaboration called “Indo-Danish Plastic Innovation Network”. The project is funded by Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.
This project is aimed to establish an Indo-Danish research & innovation network exploring transnational collaboration opportunities within the plastic value chain. The partnership shall bring together Danish & Indian research institutes, clusters and private actors to progress the circularity agenda in the plastic value chain, through collection, sorting, end-of-life and recycling processes. In an Indian context plastic consumption has grown at a significant pace over the past five and so has its waste output. India produces 3.4 million tonnes of plastic waste in a year with currently less than 50% of it being recycled. Whilst in Denmark much of the waste is incinerated, creating joint demand for innovation. From both a user and producer point of view, the challenges in the plastic industry demand social intervention as much as technological innovation as is reflected in the partner group.
