COP stakeholder workshop in Aarhus

A stakeholder workshop was held in connection with the Circular Ocean-bound Plastic project on January 30, 2025. Clean held the workshop in collaboration with Ocean Plastic Forum and Plast Center Denmark, which was for local stakeholders about the pollution in the Aarhus River.

A significant amount of plastic debris—ranging from single-use cups to plastic bottles—is contaminating the Aarhus River. Just in 2024, 5,516 plastic cups were collected from the river by SeaProtectorOne. But where is all this waste coming from?

While some of it might originate from urban areas and recreational spots, pinpointing the exact sources remains a challenge. Thus, the Circular Ocean-bound Plastic (COP) workshop, under the Interreg project, aimed to gather ideas and solutions from various stakeholders to ensure this plastic waste does not eventually flow into the Baltic Sea. Plast Center Danmark is proud to be a partner in this crucial initiative.

Creative ideas emerged, such as encouraging the community to adopt reusable alternatives, like bringing their own bottles or supporting initiatives for stricter regulations on plastic use in public spaces. How do you envision reducing urban plastic waste?

With clear objectives and collaborative efforts, we explored innovative solutions and shared insights into tackling this environmental challenge.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, and to the organizations that contributed with their expertise. It was a fantastic team effort, and we look forward to seeing these ideas come to fruition!
